President’s Message 2008
Dear Members
Serving the Lluidas Vale RDF and its members as President is a great privilege and honor for me. It is a great opportunity that comes with responsibilities.
We have much to celebrate and be thankful for this year. This is the Ten Year Anniversary of the organization. Our organization has grown tremendously over the past 10 years and as I look back now to how we started, I am amazed that a small idea among a few Valeites could sustain it self and be where it is today.
Our founding members Olga, Carmen, Oswald, Fitzy, Carl B, Carl F and yours truly could not have imagined we would be around after 10 years and made such an impact on both the Liuidas Vale community in Jamaica and here in Canada.
We could not have realized such a successful decade, if not for the many volunteers and members, who have supported and contributed their time, money and energies to make these fundraising ventures and projects the success they have been. For this kind of commitment we are truly grateful.
The role the organization plays today, in our community has not changed significantly since we began 10 years ago. Our mission then and now, has always been to help those in our community. However, we have extended far beyond that of fundraising, to become much more of a catalyst in creating a strong link with the local Lluidas Vale community here in Canada and the various schools in Lluidas Vale as well as the Seniors and Shut-ins by building partnerships with local associations in the community, each working towards a common goal.
Our Annual general meeting (AGM) will be held on April 19, 2008 and we hope everyone will be able to attend. Another one of our goal is to increase our membership this year and reach out to many more Lluidas Vale residents in Canada and not just locally here in Ontario. Our Annual picnic will take place again at G. Ross Lord Park in August as well as our Annual fundraising dance in October. Other events are being planned and we will keep you, our members updated on these efforts.
Please look at our list of completed activities and projects on the web site. This should give us a sense of accomplishment. Also you will see where your donations and membership fees are making a difference.
I am very pleased to be a part of the Lluidas Vale RDF, and I assure you that we will continue to do what matters - and that is, to help those less fortunate and improve the well-being of the children at the Lluidas Vale Basic, the All Age Schools and the community at large.
On behalf of the Committee Members, the volunteers and the people throughout the Lluidas Vale Community in Jamaica who benefit from your support, I want to say thank you for your commitment and your generous contributions to the organization.
Yours respectfully,
Tim Escoffery
